Booking terms and privacy

Booking terms

Booking and paying

  • Workshops are booked and paid for online. Your place is confirmed once payment is complete, and you’ll get a confirmation email with your booking reference.
  • Payment is taken by Square on its own secure page. We never see or keep your card details.
  • While you pay, your places are held for 20 minutes. If payment isn’t finished in that time, the places go back on sale.
  • You can book up to 8 places at once. For larger groups, contact the studio about a private session.
  • Online booking closes 24 hours before the workshop starts, unless the workshop says otherwise. For a late spot, get in touch and we’ll do our best.

If you need to cancel

  • Cancel at least 7 days before the workshop for a full refund or a credit.
  • Within 7 days we can’t refund, because the clay and materials are already prepared, but you’re welcome to send someone in your place. Just let us know their name.
  • Refunds go back to the card you paid with, through Square, and can take a few days to appear. You don’t need to bring the card in.

If we need to cancel

  • If the studio has to cancel or move a workshop, you’ll get a full refund, or a place on the new date if you prefer.
  • Raku and other outdoor firings depend on the weather and run March to November. If a firing can’t go ahead safely, we’ll offer a new date or a full refund.

Your pieces

  • Your finished pieces are glazed and fired, and are usually ready for collection within 2–3 weeks of the workshop. We’ll let you know when they’re ready, and keep them for collection for up to 8 weeks.
  • Raku and firing workshops: your pieces go home with you on the day.

Casual studio sessions

  • Casual seats come up from time to time, and are booked and paid for like a workshop.

Make-up sessions

  • A make-up session is only available on request, when a space becomes free, and isn’t guaranteed. It needs to be used within four weeks.

Kids Club and children

  • Kids Club is for ages 6 to 14. Children under 8 need a parent or carer to stay with them.
  • No food is provided, and please don’t bring food to Kids Club sessions.

Sold out?

  • Use “Notify me when it’s back” on a sold-out workshop, and we’ll email you once when a new date is added.

Privacy

What we keep, and why

  • When you book: your name, email address, mobile number (if you give one) and any notes, so we can run the workshop and contact you about your booking.
  • When you ask to be notified about a sold-out workshop: your name and email address, to send you one email when it’s back.
  • When you send us a message: your name, email address, phone number (if you give one) and your message, so we can reply.
  • When you tick “Send me the monthly newsletter”: your name and email address, to send you our monthly newsletter with news and upcoming workshops. It’s optional, and every newsletter has a link to unsubscribe.

Who else handles it

  • Square takes your payment. Its own privacy policy covers your card details.
  • Microsoft Azure hosts the website and the booking system, and sends our emails. Booking records are stored in Australia.

On the website

  • The website sets no cookies.
  • We count visits (which pages are read, roughly how long for), with no names, emails or cookies, so we can see what people find useful.

How long we keep it

  • Booking records for 5 years, for tax records; messages and waiting-list requests for 12 months; newsletter sign-ups until you unsubscribe. Backups are encrypted.
